CLUB ACTIVITIES

WINTER GAMES

The Winter Games originated in 1996 and are held the third weekend in January.  The weekend begins with the KWAT/Poinsett Pounders Fishing Derby.  The Watertown Dive and Rescue team will be on Lake Poinsett Friday giving demonstrations throughout the day.

The first few years there was a tent set up on Lake Poinsett which would be the headquarters for the weekend.  In 2004 we moved our Saturday and Sunday activities to Outskirts Lodge on the east side of Lake Poinsett.  Saturday begins with a Safety Course and a Kitty Kat timed event, which is open to 5-10 year olds. A free meal consisting of Chili and hot dogs is served from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There is a vintage snowmobile show and the winner is decided  by People's choice. A Family ride is held in the afternoon followed by our Fireworks display in the evening.

Registration for the Big Bucks Poker Run begins at 10:00 AM Sunday at Outskirts Lodge. There could be up to fourteen stops with maps available for the routes. All  participants should be in line by 4 PM for the Poker Run wrap up.

Fireworks

Saturday is topped off with the fireworks on Lake Poinsett.  If you've never had a chance to take this in, do make plans to attend next year.  There is something about a winter display of fireworks that is absolutely
magnificent.

         GOLF TOURNEY

The Poinsett Pounders have an annual Membership Golf Tourney at Lake Region Golf Course every fall.    We enjoy 9 holes of golf with pin prizes and a steak supper to complete the day.

CHARITIES

The past several years the Poinsett Pounders have donated to women riding in the For Women Only Snowmobile Ride for Easter Seals.  Our club holds various fundraisers to help the Women with this event.
The club also helped to send a participant to the WOW (Way Out Women) Polaris Breast Cancer Relay Ride in 2004.
We also donate money to the Dive and Rescue each year.
February 7th, 2009 the Poinsett Pounders sponsored  the "Ride for the Ribbon" breast cancer fundraiser in Badger, SD.  We raised over $31,000.00 with the proceeds going to SD Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the cure.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

The Poinsett Pounders club raised money to purchase a snowmobile and rescue sled  which we donated to our local emergency teams.
