Fall schedule begins with Rally Day

Sunday School

Calling all princesses and princes, ladies and knights of the Kingdom of God! On Sunday, September 12 we will welcome our children back to Sunday School.  We will be having a fun “Kingdom of God” theme for our worship that day.

Sunday School will run from 9:45-10:45 a.m. (please bring your kids to class that day to practice music for the anniversary).  Worship is at 11:00 a.m. and will include presentation of awards for the children who attended last year.  A fellowship potluck will follow worship.  Following the potluck, we hope folks will stick around and help with the last minute clean up details for the anniversary!   We hope to see you all there.

There will be NO Sunday School on September 19th, the day of our 100th Anniversary celebration.  Adult Bible class will begin on September 26, meeting at the Saugstad home.

Confirmation

Confirmation classes will begin at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1.  Classes will run until 6:00 p.m.  Any student 6th grade or older is welcome to attend classes.  We will provide the students with their new study Bibles.

Youth Group

The youth group for junior and senior high students will meet for pizza and planning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1.  They will plan the events for the year and discuss wreath sales this fall.

They will be selling wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces for your homes at Christmas.  Orders have to be made this fall so if you are interested, contact a youth, Lori Skadsen or the church office.

Anniversary events finalized

Our Savior’s Lutheran will celebrate 100 years of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ on September 18-19. The theme for the weekend is “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”

Events begin Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with a program featuring the Singing Nuns, comments from former pastors, PowerPoint presentation and fellowship with cookies and coffee.

Sunday worship services with Holy Communion begin at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Susan Marone, assistant to the bishop, giving the message.  The service will include special music from the Sunday School and a choir, and dedication of the new piano and altar paraments.

A noon meal will follow worship services.  A free will offering will be received to defray the cost of the meal.  Please RSVP to the church office if you plan to attend so that we have an estimated number of participants.

The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. with a hymn sing and program followed by a softball game and other outdoor activities for young and old.  The celebration will conclude about 4:00 p.m. with anniversary cake, ice cream and coffee.

Anniversary booklets will sell of $1.00 each, as well as souvenir t-shirts ($15), mugs ($10) and cutting boards ($25).

Any adult singer is invited to join the choir.  See calendar for practice times.

In preparation for the weekend, the anniversary committee is seeking volunteers to sign up for church cleaning projects both inside and outside, to help set up the tent, tables and chairs on Friday, and to serve the Saturday evening coffee and Sunday meal.
