The Clear Lake City Library celebrated its 110th birthday during March 2009 and is the 2nd oldest library in South Dakota. The library had its beginning in March of 1899 and has played an influential part of the cultural growth of the community. The library has continued to change and grow over the years. We currently have over 20,000 books, 42 magazine subscriptions, two newspaper subscriptions, 575 videos, 344 DVDs, 532 audio books as well as 6 computers with DSL connections. The library has a summer reading program, a pajama party, along with seasonal parties for the kids during the year. We hold a "Quiet Auction" every year in the fall, to fund the children programs and sustain the computers.
