The Country House, built in 1948 by Gib Williams, is a third generation family business that evolved from a service station/motel to a cafe/laundromat.  The B&M Cafe, as it was then known, was operated by Bill and Marge Williams in the 1950s.

In the early 1960s, the building was remodeled to create a 60-seat supper club and was renamed the Country House.  In 1976, a new addition seating 110 was added, along with a bar/lounge facility.  And in 1992, the new area was again completely remodeled.

After graduating from Southwest State University, Tony and Erin Schwing purchased the business in January of 1983 from Erin's parents.  After successful experimentation with a lighter family menu, the Schwings built another 60-seat addition featuring fast, light, casual and inexpensive dining.  Tony and Erin's six children now comprise the fourth generation at the Country House and may be seen working in various roles.
